Hadrian's Wall is our most popular tour and an experience we specialise in being based in the region. The route, West to East, is our standard itinerary and is a tried and trusted path walked by many thousands every year. Starting in Bowness-on-Solway in Cumbria, the 6 day trip is targeted towards experienced walkers covering on average, 14 miles per day.

Transport
We provide daily transport for one item of luggage per person. They are collected anytime from 0930 and are delivered to your next accommodation by 1630. No other transport is included but additional days can be arranged and transport to nearby locations included.
Equipment
The trail can get wet and windy even in the height of summer so we recommend all customers are adequately prepared. This includes suitable rain wear (coats and boots), waterproof clothing and sunscreen and sun hat. Cooler months would require more layers and waterproof clothing with the summer months requiring lighter clothing.
Accommodation
All accommodations are local guest houses, bed and breakfasts or hotels which are owner operated. Breakfast is included on all stays and packed lunch is an optional extra.

We provide the name of your accommodation on the final self-guided tour itinerary. These will be within the trail area and transport provided if outside of a short walk.

Itinerary
A wonderful way to start your trip – enjoy the beautiful views of the area of outstanding natural beauty, Bowness-on-Solway.
Overnight in Carlisle with time to explore the city. Home to a medieval fortress, Carlisle, has an abundance of history to enjoy to include the dungeons and deadly Gallows Hill – the last place many Jacobite prisoners will have seen.
Distance – 14 miles
After a good night’s rest with your friendly host, set off across rolling countryside along this flat section of the wall.
Arrival at Gilsland and a well earned rest at our local partner guesthouse awaits (or nearby area) .
Distance – 16 miles
Don’t let today’s shorter section make you think you are in for an easy day. Another challenging section where you will encounter some of the most wonderful parts of the Hadrian’s Wall .
Your accommodation will be a friendly local bed and breakfast in Twice Brewed or the surrounding area
Distance – 8 miles.
Make sure you get a full breakfast before you set off today – it’s set to be a great challenge.
You will encounter some of the tougher terrain as you tackle this 11 mile section..
Your welcoming retreat will be awaiting as your arrive in Chollerford (or nearby area) . A well-earned rest.
Distance – 11 miles
Today’s adventure will be an easier session after a challenging couple of days. Take in the beautiful countryside as the Wall meanders through the Northumberland countryside before arriving at Heddon on the Wall.
Your accommodation will be a friendly local bed and breakfast in a town near to Heddon on the Wall. Transport will be provided.
Distance – 15 miles
The final day will take you from the countryside through to the bustling city of Newcastle along the banks of the River Tyne.
The end point will be Segedunum Roman Fort – the last outpost for of this epic Wall.
We can add an extra night accommodation or provide transport to a location for your onward trip.
