The most popular route, East to West, is our standard itinerary and is a tried and trusted path walked by many thousands every year. This trips starts in Wallsend in the East and covers around 14 miles per day.

Transport
We provide daily transport for one item of luggage per person. They are collected anytime from 0930 and are delivered to your next accommodation by 1630. No other transport is included but additional days can be arranged and transport to nearby locations included.

Accommodation
All accommodations are local guest houses, bed and breakfasts or hotels which are owner operated. Breakfast is included on all stays and packed lunch is an optional extra. Your accommodation details will be provided on your final confirmation.

We provide the name of your accommodation on the final self-guided tour itinerary. These will be within the trail area and transport provided if outside of a short walk.

Itinerary
Set off from the Segedunum Roman Fort on your epic trip across this amazing feat of Roman engineering.
Walk the banks of the River Tyne before heading through the City of Newcastle upon Tyne and entering the wonderful Northumberland countryside.
Your accommodation will be a friendly local bed and breakfast in a town near to Heddon on the Wall. Transport will be provided.
Distance – 14 miles.
Today’s walk is a gentle meander through the vast countryside with the wall never far away. This section takes you along the Military Road which was built on the wall.
A relaxing evening awaits with your friendly host.
Distance – 15 miles
Make sure you get a full breakfast before you set off today – it’s set to be a great challenge.
You will encounter some of the tougher terrain as you tackle this 11 mile section..
Your welcoming retreat will be awaiting as your arrive in Twice Brewed (or nearby area) . A well-earned rest.
Distance – 11 miles
Don’t let today’s shorter section make you think you are in for an easy day. Another challenging section where you will encounter some of the most wonderful parts of the Hadrian’s Wall .
Your accommodation will be a friendly local bed and breakfast in Gilsland or the surrounding area
Distance – 8 miles.
After yesterday’s challenging section, today’s 16 mile walk takes you from rolling countryside into the city of Carlisle. Overnight in Carlisle with time to explore the city. Home to a medieval fortress, Carlisle, has an abundance of history to enjoy to include the dungeons and deadly Gallows Hill – the last place many Jacobite prisoners will have seen.
Distance – 16 miles
After a relaxing night in Carlisle, the end is in sight as you set across Cumbria to an area of outstanding natural beauty, Bowness-on-Solway.
Congratulations – you are at the end of the trip.
We can add an extra night stay if required.
