Set off on this shorter trip on the famous Coast to Coast trail created by Alfred Wainwright. This itinerary is based on starting in Kirkby Stephen and ending in Robin Hood's Bay which is ideal for those short on time or just want to get a taste of the trail.
The Coast to Coast is rather unique as its not part of the National Trails but instead comprises other trails, paths and walkways covering the breath of the England. Starting in St Bees in Cumbria and stretching to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire, the Coast to Coast trail is one of the most popular long distance walks in the UK offering opportunities to take in stunning countryside, enjoy mountain scenery and discover some of England's history.
The trail is challenging in places with some climbs and descents so a good level of fitness is recommended. The weather can be unpredictable so its best to plan for all possibilities. Our local bag transfer allows you to pack a variety of options with your items being delivered to your accommodation for your arrival.
The route is incredibly varied with no 2 days presenting the same challenge. You will encounter all types of fauna and flora, fells, moorland, wide open fields, mountains and alot of history.

Itinerary
Overnight stay in Kirkby Stephen (or nearby)
You will head across the Eden river and onto Hartley village before a climb to the Nine Standards cairns, passing Hartley Fell en-route.
At this point there are a number of option to Keld depending upon the time of year. This area can be very wet if there has been rain.
Head down into Keld and your home for the night.
Distance: 14.5 miles
There are 2 possible routes today following the low or high route - the choice is generally weather dependent.
The low route is via Muke & Gunnerside whilst the high route takes you over Melbecks Moor and over old lead mines.
Whichever route you choose, the village of Reeth is a welcoming nightstop.
Distance: 12 miles
Head out of Reeth along gravel and woodland tracks along todays short section.
Pass over Grinton Bridge and encounter the Marrick Priory along with many other small, welcoming villages. There are plenty of spots to take a rest and enjoy some local hospitality.
Arriving at Richmond, you will enjoy the buzz with other walkers enjoying the trail in this busy town.
Distance: 14 miles
Ensure you have a hearty breakfast as today is a rather long walk without any ascents or descents.
The route takes you through Danby Wiske before you head further along the Vale of Mowbray. You will encounter many local sites such as Arncliffe Hall and the Water Tower at Ingleby Arncliffe.
This evenings night stop is your chance to grab supplies.
Distance: 23 miles
Today you enter the North York Moors.
Experience the flora and fauna of the national park and take in the Wain Stones at the top of the Moors.
Your walk continues to Clay Bank top for where you will be collected and transferred to your accommodation. Some guests will be accommodated in nearby Chop Gate.
Distance: 12 miles
Leave Great Broughton and head along to Farndale Moor and be prepared for any type of weather.
Visit the UK's 4th highest pub at the Lion Inn after overcoming Blakey Ridge. Esk Valley then awaits as you then head up to your accommodation at Glaisdale.
Distance: 18 miles
The end is near!
You will pass through many pretty villages as you make your way to Robin Hoods Bay including Egton Bridge and Grosmont. Be prepared for a hills on this final section.
As you arrive into Robin Hoods Bay make your way to the beach to touch the water and complete the trip.
